Here is a summary of my experience.

Since May of 2003, I have been a graduate student at the George Washington University. I spent the 2003-2004 school year at McLean High School in Fairfax County, Virginia.

My experience included:
  • working with the ESOL students at all levels: Low A, A, B1, and B2.
  • five weeks of student teaching a full schedule: one Low A level class, two Mixed A level classes, and two B1 classes.
  • substitute teaching
  • assisting the ESOL department
  • volunteering with the volleyball team
  • volunteering as a McLeader sponsor
  • acting as chaperone on an ICU club field trip to NYC and Philadelphia

A little about me:

  • I am from Idaho Falls, ID
  • I am the oldest of six children: two boys and four girls
  • I earned a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from Brigham Young University
  • I earned an Associate's degree in German from Ricks College
  • I lived in Latvia for one and a half years
  • My summers are spent in Alaska whenever possible

Some of my hobbies include:

  • Sports - especially running, weight lifting, and volleyball
  • Reading
  • Music - the piano and the guitar
  • Art
  • Outdoor activities: camping, hiking, horseback riding, anything that can be done outside
